Lucky you - this week we have no preliminary reading for the lecture.
Last week's work with ocean cores will help immensely. Keep in mind everything you learned about oxygen isotopes. They are coming back to haunt you again this week! Bring along your laptops for lecture as we will begin working on our ice core project during Tuesday's lecture. See you in class.
I was wondering whether there is a correlation between all heavy isotopes and climate change, or is it just heavy Oxygen and Carbon that are effected by climate changes?

DeleteI studied GISP2-8.2 kya Gas isotopes and Methane deposits for Greenland, using dAr40 and methane concentrations ppb. It revealed a short, sharp drop in temperature during global warming period of Holocene. Interesting to see how methane corroborated that. I started playing with the Excel program, but lacked a real goal so look forward to team time. However I will be working at the Xeriscape conference tomorrow so I will miss class. Fortunately though Dr. Gutzler will be giving an update on the global climate!
